The Manchester Fiction Prize is an international competition with a cash prize of £10,000 for the writer of the best short story submitted.

I was lucky enough to be shortlisted for the prize in 2020. You can find the announcement of the shortlist here.

The biographies of the authors, and their shortlisted stories (in a free to read PDF document), can be found here. They're an eclectic collection of works showing a wide range of technical approaches to constructing a story.

The winner of the prize is due to be announced on 28th February.

I don't know how the judges will be able to choose between such different stories.
